Before you upload

Your scan stays private to your account. Nobody else on Thespiary can see it, and it is never published.

We send it to our text-extraction provider to read the credits out of it. Only those facts — who performed, in what, where and when — go into the public archive, under CC BY-SA 4.0. The image itself is never included in a data dump.

We strip the photo's metadata, including any GPS location, before storing it.

Delete an upload whenever you like, from “My uploads” below: the scan and the text read off it are removed for good, and your scans go too when your account is deleted. Credits you have already submitted stay in the shared archive — they are community data other people's records depend on — but they stop naming the scan.
